The Timmy Says...

As the Holiday season passes and the beer is flowing at the bar, it is important to realize that there is good beer and bad beer out there. I am not, or have I ever been, a fan of light beer.

If you are going to have a light beer you might as well, just order a cocktail, Fuzzy Navel perhaps? Dark beers, rich in flavor, are meant to be enjoyed, and actually drank, not guzzled down like water on a hot summer day. For those of you Mike Barrett fans, who are short on cash, this advice should be taken seriously because drinking a dark beer will be lighter on the wallet. In a normal 2-hour period at the Pig on a Thursday “Jason” may drink six Coors Lights, but “Timmy” could get by drinking two or three of his favorite dark selections.

A dark beer can be consumed at a much slower pace, therefore saving you money when you go out to the Pig, Kennedy's or any other fine establishment that Mike hasn't been banned from yet.

Light beers are just way to watered down to give your taste-buds any excitement and a dark beer seems to go better with the consumption of greasy over-priced bar food that you'll be throwing up later that night.

If you haven't enjoyed “good” beers and have been one of those persons who sticks to Bud Light, Coors Light, Miller Light, Amstel Light, and any other “beer flavored water” here is a short list of some of my favorite beers and ones that I recommend you imbibe when you go out drinking next at your local watering hole:

New Castle
Magic Hat (Multiple Flavors - Microbrew from Burlington, VT)
Guinness
Smutty Nose
Red Hook
Bass
Sierra Nevada
Killian's

That is all for now and I'll see you at the bar
