Just a quick note to let you know what's going on and where. The Pig - is as crazy as ever. Packed out every Thursday with the most fun gang ever to (dis)grace a bar with their presence. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about.Oh and do yourself a favor, if you haven't eaten at the Pig, do it. The food is something special , where else can you get a Reuben Toastie, a Peking Duck Quesadilla, Poached Salmon, and Curry Chips all under one roof Kennedys - I always refer to it as across from the hole that used to be the hole that used to be the Littlest - is where all the cool kids are making home on Monday nights. It has taken over where the Littlest left off. It's a different kind of a show than the Pig. Some of the same songs, but it's really become the place to try out stuff before I throw it to the wolves. You're likely to hear more traditional Irish stuff and old time blues. Anything could happen from funny to old to new to obscure to obscene All good stuff that you don't get to hear and I don't get to play anywhere else these days. If you're a "music head" start coming in before summer when (I assume) it's gonna get crazy with J1s. Also, they run food and drink specials on Monday nights. Mr Dooley's - is kinda the "grande dame" of Irish places in Boston. One of the originals. A beautiful space, very traditional look and feel. Not your phoney baloney bullshit "kiss me I'm pretinding to be Irish" places. It's the real thing. If you're looking for a quieter, less raucous place, this is it. Great food too. The Peddler's Daughter - in old town Haverhill. This is the most like a West Coast of Ireland country place than any of the others. Good food, great atmosphere. I'm there once or twice a month. One of favorite places to play. There will be a lot of new places this year as well. Keep checking the schedule. |
